Nearly as many cows as humans call Wisconsin home.  Nicknamed, “America’s Dairyland”, it is  rightly named so and has some of the best cheese in the world. But beyond the giant pastures are massive rolling hills, red barns, and endless pine forests with crystal clear lakes and streams. The largest city of Milwaukee lies just ninety miles north of Chicago and offers a mix of the rural Midwest with a metropolitan lifestyle. It is know for its ethnic festivals and huge breweries. Be sure to check out the Riverwalk, recently renovated and a mecca for nightlife, cafes and great restaurants and entertainment.

To get a great feel for the state, be sure to check out the small town of Wittenberg.  It is typical of many small towns in the state, but it is the home of Neuskes, America’s original producer of  Applewood smoked meats. Starting as a small business, it has grown to national recognition and has received many awards at International food conventions for its products. There is a small store there to sample and buy their great products and is definitely worth the trip.

Tip of the Day

Be Organized

It is a good idea to pack one room at a time, labeling each box with the room name (Kitchen, Bathroom, etc.) and a number (Kitchen - #1). As you complete packing each box go to your notebook, record the room name and the box number and list the contents of the box. If you take a little extra time to do this while you are packing each box, being as specific as you can, it will make unpacking at your new home that much easier. Also, if a box goes missing during the move you will be able to identify the missing items immediately by referring to your inventory list
