Washington, DC is a favorite stop for tourist not only in this country, but for international visitors as well. Getting around is quite easy if you know the system. It is divided into four quadrants-northeast, southeast, southwest and northwest. Dozens of streets run diagonally with names of states, meeting at the Dupont Circle. So addresses will have the quadrant section in their name e.g. NE. Most of the favorite sites are near the Capitol  and the National Mall.

The best time to visit the city is in the fall or spring, when the famous Cheery Blossoms take bloom. Summers are very hot and humid and winters can be very cold. Accommodations in the city are very pricey as most hotels cater to business travelers and political lobbyist during the week. But, many hotels cut their rates in half for the weekend, so try and visit then or stay more outside the city for cheaper rates. Restaurants tend to come and go very quickly in the capital more so than other large cities. Check out the area around Dupont Circle and Connecticut Avenue and M street in Georgetown for good dining choices. Georgetown is also a very lively place at night.
