Washington

State Flower
Coast Rhododendron

Washington on the northwest corner of America is home to the great city of Seattle, Puget sound, Mount  St Helens and the Olympic Peninsula. But to the east it is a whole different world. Dry and desolate, it is  a sprawling prairie plane quite different from the west. Puget sound ‘s southern edge is very urban but still very beautiful, surrounded by majestic mountains, forests and lakes.  Off the shores of Washington are the San Juan Islands, midway between Seattle and Vancouver, BC. Every summer brings many visitors, so be advised to book ahead during the summer months. The Cascade Mountains offer mile upon mile of dense forested wilderness with spectacular vistas.

Seattle, the largest city in Washington sits on the shores of Elliott Bay with the snowy peak of Mount Ranier in the distance. Here there are many attractions, including Pike Place Market, the Seattle Art Museum, the Space Needle and some of the best restaurants and seafood in the country. A good bet is the Capitol Hill area and the Pike/Pine Corridor, filled with many all-night coffeehouses, live venues and great eats.

Tip of the Day

Be Organized

It is a good idea to pack one room at a time, labeling each box with the room name (Kitchen, Bathroom, etc.) and a number (Kitchen - #1). As you complete packing each box go to your notebook, record the room name and the box number and list the contents of the box. If you take a little extra time to do this while you are packing each box, being as specific as you can, it will make unpacking at your new home that much easier. Also, if a box goes missing during the move you will be able to identify the missing items immediately by referring to your inventory list
