The Volunteer State is a proud state and the home of Elvis. Mostly rolling hills and farmlands fill this state and it is the home of the two well known cities of Memphis and Nashville.  To the east it shares a border with North Carolina and the Great Smokey Mountains. Here more than ten million people visit every year, more than twice that of any other national park.

Nashville is synonymous with country music and the Grand Ole Opry and the Country Music Hall of Fame. If you are into collecting old records and recordings, be sure to visit the Ernest Tubb Record Shop with its unique display of Grand Ole Opry costumes. Memphis is perhaps the most exciting city to visit in the south with its rich history of blues, soul and rock’n’roll and world class barbecue. Be sure to visit its wonderful downtown area filled with many retro shops, diners, stores, and clusters of museums. A trip to this great city would not be complete without a visit to the Sun and Stax studios where Elvis Presley began his journey to becoming the King. Check out the 32-storey Pyramid, located in northern downtown and its rays of reflection. It is a wonderful sight to see. It is two-thirds the size of the Great Pyramid in Egypt and a tribute to Egypt’s Nile Delta.

Tip of the Day

Be Organized

It is a good idea to pack one room at a time, labeling each box with the room name (Kitchen, Bathroom, etc.) and a number (Kitchen - #1). As you complete packing each box go to your notebook, record the room name and the box number and list the contents of the box. If you take a little extra time to do this while you are packing each box, being as specific as you can, it will make unpacking at your new home that much easier. Also, if a box goes missing during the move you will be able to identify the missing items immediately by referring to your inventory list
