A very poor southern state with no large cities, South Carolina has grown to a tourist destination of the south. With its development of world class golf courses and prime real estate along the coast it is attracting more people to its mild climate. South Carolina is rich in history as many slaves escaped to the coastal area from the plantations in the 1800s.

Charleston and Myrtle Beach are the two prime destinations on the coast. Charleston is a jewel of the south with its magnificent historic district with its old houses and palm trees that line the streets. Charleston has a lot of Civil War history; it was almost destroyed during the war. Home to Fort Sumter and a very beautiful waterfront park, this seaport town is full of commerce, activity, and many fine restaurants. Fort Sumter can be seen by boat and when in Charleston, be sure to ride the horse and buggies to get a real feel for the city and all its splendor.

Tip of the Day

Be Organized

It is a good idea to pack one room at a time, labeling each box with the room name (Kitchen, Bathroom, etc.) and a number (Kitchen - #1). As you complete packing each box go to your notebook, record the room name and the box number and list the contents of the box. If you take a little extra time to do this while you are packing each box, being as specific as you can, it will make unpacking at your new home that much easier. Also, if a box goes missing during the move you will be able to identify the missing items immediately by referring to your inventory list
