Well there is New York and New York City ( a country by itself). Let’s start with the great state first. The “Empire State” is a large expanse of laked country, forest, mountains, seashores and small and quite large cities. The largest of the cities is Buffalo, on the shores of Lake Erie and near Niagara Falls. Other attractions are Long Island with its coast road at Oyster Bay, the Hamptons (home of the rich and famous), the Hudson Valley and the Catskill Mountains and the eleven Finger Lakes gouged by glaciers many millions of years ago. There is much to do for those who want to avoid the hustle and bustle of America’s greatest city.

New York City could fill a book of things to do and see. Besides the usual tourist stops, try and get a local flair for the city. Take the subways along the east and west side of Manhattan. In these areas are many shops, cafes, restaurants and are quite lively in the evening. Here you get away from the normally touristy Time Square area and get  to mingle with he local s “uptown”.  Lower Manhattan is where you will find Little Italy, China Town and the world financial area and Wall Street. Great to visit during the day, but keep in mind that the Wall Street area empties out in the evening as people leave work and the trading house close down. Do not fear, the city never sleeps and is open 24hours as many have sung about. NYC is a vacation, or many vacations, in itself.
