The “Show Me State”, called because Missourians hardly ever believe what you tell them, boast two major US cities, St. Louis and Kansas City, and a whole lot of rural county in between. The southern part of the state features the beautiful Ozark Mountains with its hills, streams and ragged lakes and the  tourist town of Branson. St. Joseph about fifty miles north of Kansas City is one of the states most richly historical towns. The area is rich in history from the Louisiana Purchase, the Civil War and as a gateway to the west.

St. Louis is host to the world famous Gateway Arch and the Wharf area of the waterfront where  workers once handled large cargo of cotton. The area has been preserved  at Laclede’s Landing and now is a booming center for tourist to enjoy the many bars, restaurants and gift shops.

Kansas City on the western edge of the state, 250 from St. Louis, iis iterally divided in half; the Missouri state side and the Kansas state side. But, all points of major interest are on the Missouri side. There are many interesting places to visit: the Historic District known as the River market, the 18th and Vine Historic Jazz District, the Hallmark Visitors Center and the Negro League Baseball Museum. That’s a lot of walking, so be sure to refuel your energy with some of the best BBQ in the country. And KCMO (as it is called by the locals) has some of the best.

Tip of the Day

Be Organized

It is a good idea to pack one room at a time, labeling each box with the room name (Kitchen, Bathroom, etc.) and a number (Kitchen - #1). As you complete packing each box go to your notebook, record the room name and the box number and list the contents of the box. If you take a little extra time to do this while you are packing each box, being as specific as you can, it will make unpacking at your new home that much easier. Also, if a box goes missing during the move you will be able to identify the missing items immediately by referring to your inventory list
