This small state in the Mid-Atlantic region of the country is traveled through heavily on the I-95 Corridor from Maine to Florida. But, Maryland is worth an extended stay with its coastal beauty, rich green landscapes and wonderful seafood. The largest city of Baltimore has many interesting sites and historical gems like Fort McHenry, the Edgar Allen Poe house, and the National Aquarium-the largest tourist attraction in the city. To escape the crowds, be sure to check out Federal Hill, a mecca of interesting shops, restaurants and galleries.

Maryland Eastern Shore sports many back roads with Ocean City as a favorite summer haven to many. On the Chesapeake Bay side is the Naval Academy at Annapolis , a town that has changed little over the centuries. This town is rich in history with its many grand post-revolutionary brick homes that line the old streets. Western Maryland is hill country and the gateway to West Virginia. As on goes west, be sure to visit Deep Creek Lake, more than 700,000 acres with public parks and forest surrounding it. In the winter it is a favorite place for cross-country skiing.

Tip of the Day

Be Organized

It is a good idea to pack one room at a time, labeling each box with the room name (Kitchen, Bathroom, etc.) and a number (Kitchen - #1). As you complete packing each box go to your notebook, record the room name and the box number and list the contents of the box. If you take a little extra time to do this while you are packing each box, being as specific as you can, it will make unpacking at your new home that much easier. Also, if a box goes missing during the move you will be able to identify the missing items immediately by referring to your inventory list
