Many people think of Kansas as a flat and boring state. This is not the case, as the state is full of many lakes, streams, and rolling hills, mainly in the east. The state is rich in history as  runaway slaves in the 1880’s were passaged through the state from the south. It boast being the first state to give women the right to vote in municipal elections and the first female mayor and senator. Its image of home of the Wild West still lives today with its towns of Abilene, Wichita and Dodge City.

Kansas is home to the University of Kansas, a powerful team most years in the Men’s NCAA basketball tournament and Kansas State University. Wichita the largest city has many public art and sculpture exhibits, riverside parks and bike trails. The city has revitalized the downtown area and is the home of a Global Aircraft Center and a rich arts scene. Be sure to visit the Kansas African American Museum with its rich history of the Buffalo Soldiers, early black inventors and how African Americans helped shape the history of the Great Plains.
