This mostly agricultural state of cornfields is the true image of small town America. Settled by mainly Northern Europeans they came to the state to farm as their main concern. Eastern Iowa in the Mississippi hinterland is full of many agricultural towns and now many riverboats offer gambling on the river.

The capital of Des Moines is the nerve center of the state. If the streets of the city seem empty, that is because people are using the Skywalk. This Skywalk is a three mile enclosed temperature controlled corridor, linking twenty blocks of offices with offices, banks, restaurants, shopping and theatres. Iowans eat well because of the quantity of fresh food and  it  reflects in the many fine steakhouse in the city.

Ordering Supplies

Order supplies for your upcoming move and start the packing process early. Moving companies have a variety of packing supplies that can be ordered when you schedule your moving date and will be delivered to usually free of charge. These supplies will arrive well in advance of your move so that you can start packing items that are not currently being used. Out of season clothing, books, extra linens, etc. should be packed in advance.
