The Nutmeg State is the gateway from New England to New York City.  Connecticut  is rich in wonderful scenery, rolling hills, a picturesque coast and a booming metropolis of cities. Hartford, the capital and the Insurance center of the world, is rich in culture and activities. Just a  short stint to the south is New Haven, the home of Yale University. For those who fancy the ocean, Connecticut borders Long Island Sound to the north, and the city of New London is rich in maritime history. Be sure to visit the Submarine Museum nearby.

Plentiful shopping also can be found at Olde Mystic Village in Mystic Seaport, as well as the Tanger Outlet Center in Westbrook and the Clinton Crossing outlets in Clinton. As with all parts of New England, inland and waterfront parks for hiking, biking, and play are easy to find.

The coastal Fairfield region presents a range of outdoor and family fun like the Beardsley Zoo and Barnum Museum in Bridgeport and the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk. New Haven claims to be the home of the first pizza in America; don’t pass through the city without stopping at a pizza parlor.
