From the word Athabaskan meaning, “great land of the west” , there is no other state quite like Alaska. Abundant in wild life, one can also find; the nations highest peaks, glaciers, and small islands that stretch out for hundreds of miles. Since it is called by many as the last frontier, traveling around the state demands a spirit of adventure. Though it is know to be be very cold in the winter, summer temperatures can reach the mid 80’. But if you are planning to move or visit here, be advised that it is more expensive in Alaska than most of the lower 48 states. The Alaska Highway stretches 1500 miles is a trip in itself. Ferries are very common to transport cars where there are no roads. And there are not that many.
